Description
The Banff International Research Station will host the "Teachers as Stakeholders in Mathematics Education Research (MER)" workshop from December 5 to December 10, 2010.
In continuation of an international workshop at the Mathematical Research Institute at Oberwolfach (Germany) in November 2007, we open another international conference on professional development of teachers under the auspices of PIMS and DMV (German Mathematical Society). Our aim is to bring together mathematicians, researchers as well practitioners representing the international scene.
Both institutions, PIMS as well DMV, take their responsibility for the large societies to promote ideas and initiatives for a sustainable improvement of mathematics at school.
The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the US National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnologia (CONACYT).
