2012 Summer IMO Training Camp (12ss012)
Description
The "2012 Summer IMO Training Camp" workshop will be hosted at The Banff International Research Station.
The 2012 Summer IMO Camp is an opportunity for 6 high school students chosen from thousands across Canada to prepare for the International Mathematical Olympiad, and to get to know each other as a team. In previous years, Canada has done extremely well at the IMO. Part of the credit for this must go to BIRS for the outstanding facilities provided for the camp. BIRS is the ideal location for the training camp, because it provides an academic environment with sufficient isolation from distractions to help the focus of the students.
The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the US National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
