Participant Testimonials
The workshop was extremely interesting for me. My research interest lies between geometry and analysis, approaching number theory tangentially. This workshop gave me the great opportunity to work on a specific problem in analytic number theory. It is a new topic for me but that has called my attention for several years. Working in my group was great, I learned many things. We hope to continue working on our problem and to eventually obtain a publication out of it. In spite the tight schedule, there was still space and time to talk with participants working in other groups. It is a nice and interesting community.

The workshop Number Theory in the Americas was organised in a somewhat non-standard way: all the participants were split into small group each working on some research topic. I feel that it was a very exciting and productive week. With our group, we discovered a new interesting problem about Salem numbers and were able to solve it in a special case of fields of degree 4. We are currently preparing these results for publication. Banff Oaxaca has excellent conditions for this type of workshops, all the activity is centered in the main hotel and there is a lot of interaction between the members of the different groups. To conclude, I can hardly resist mentioning that our office space had the blackboard next to the open air pool.
The workshop was great in all its aspects. I was in a group which worked in an area closely related to mine so it was fantastic that it let me learn new things. We plan to write a paper with the ideas that came up during that week. It was also helpful in my future career thanks to the session that we had focused on work opportunities.
This workshop led to a fruitful collaboration with researchers I met at the conference. To my great surprise, the problem we focused on during the workshop ended up being very closely related to my main research interests, though a priori it was in no way clear to me that this would happen. We continue to work and write up our results, and the end product looks promising.
This was a wonderful workshop that provided perfect conditions to initiate collaborations among Spanish speaking number theorists. I am extremely grateful that I had this unique opportunity and I hope there will be more workshops like this in the future
The workshop was very stimulating. Working in something that can turn out to be a new research project from 9am to 11pm was fun.
The workshop delivered on everything that I hope it would: new collaborators, new research projects and new personal connections.

The workshop was excellent. Together with my group, we proved some theorems and we expect to be able to publish 1 or 2 papers from it. It helped encourage me into a (slightly) different area of number theory. I think it helps my career in that I will get more publications and that I collaborated with new people. The program also helped me come up with ideas for my upcoming sabbatical (2020-2021).
