Description
The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) will host the "Trends in the classification of algebraic varieties and their sheaves" workshop in Oaxaca, from August 8 to August 13, 2021.
Research activity on the classification of algebraic varieties and their sheaves is been vigorous in the last three decades. During this period, there have been at least 2 Fields Medals, among other recognition, awarded to the study of central questions on the subject. The techniques developed in this area research are far-reaching and touches on a vast number of contexts in algebraic geometry.
This workshop will focus on the results around the classification of algebraic varieties and their sheaves and how they are applied to resolve long standing questions in algebraic geometry.
The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) in Mexico, and the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) in Banff, are collaborative Canada-US-Mexico ventures that provide an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station in Banff is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT). The research station in Oaxaca is funded by CONACYT
