This weekend was so mind blowing in regards to challenging my views and approach to mathematics in the elementary/junior classroom. I am walking away with a wealth of resources to support me and my colleagues in implementing rich numeracy practices, skill based learning and setting the kids up to practice the 21st century learner skills outlined in Alberta education. I can't wait to start trying some of these teaching techniques in my classroom and to create a school wide math fair with a focus on critical skills and communication of math.
