Description
The Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics will host the "Spatial Omics - Integrating Biotechnologies, Methodologies and Applications" workshop in Hangzhou, China from June 15 to June 20, 2025.
Cells serve as the fundamental building blocks of life, and recent advancements in biotechnology have granted us the ability to delve into their intricate spatial context, leading to a deeper comprehension of biology and human diseases. Spatial omics technologies have emerged as powerful tools that enable us to explore the role of cells in their spatial context. However, these technologies also generate vast and complex datasets, presenting new challenges in the realm of data science for both computational and life scientists. The objective of this workshop is to foster collaboration among international leaders from diverse disciplines, including mathematics, statistics, computation, biology, and medicine. By bringing together experts from these varied backgrounds, we aim to cultivate a collaborative atmosphere that will effectively address the underlying data science challenges encountered in spatial omics research.
The Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (IASM) in Hangzhou, China, and the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) in Banff, are collaborative Canada-US-Mexico ventures that provide an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station in Banff is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
