Description
The Banff International Research Station will host the "Women in Numbers 7" workshop in Banff from June 14 - 19, 2026.
The Women in Numbers (WIN) network and workshops were launched in 2008 with the goal of promoting gender equity in number theory research, as well as creating an inclusive and supportive community for women and nonbinary researchers. WIN7 will build on the strong success of the previous WIN workshops supported by BIRS. The workshop will bring together number theorists across career stages to pursue research projects led by established researchers. In addition to the primary workshop activity of working in project groups, the workshop also provides opportunities for community building and professional development through presentations, panels, and discussion sessions. WIN7 participants will be selected from a wide range of career stages, types of career paths, and areas of number theory, with the goal of fostering long-lasting collaborations, supportive peer-networks, and strong mentoring relationships. Work from past WIN workshops has led to numerous publications, both in the peer-reviewed WIN proceedings volumes and in respected journals, and the projects at WIN7 will be designed to continue this tradition.
The Banff International Research Station
for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative
Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative
interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods
within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with
industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in
Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering
Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF),
and Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology.
